Physiotherapy for individuals with multiple sclerosis focuses on maintaining mobility & transfers, increasing strength, overall enhancing quality of life. It is also hugely beneficial for regaining mobility after a relapse or flare up of symptoms.
Daily Activities

Washing & Dressing
We can work with you to increase your energy levels and strength to make washing & dressing tasks easier. This may include advice around adaptions and equipment.

Preparing a Meal
Cooking can be physically and mentally tiring. Having to stand for long periods of time, concentrating or multi-tasking is difficult. However, eating the right food is important for energy levels and enhancing mood. We can support you to get back cooking with ease.

Fine Motor Skills
Altered sensation and weakness may make picking up small items or using a phone difficult. Through exercise programs and specific movements we can help to maintain function.
Getting Around

Walking & Falls Prevention
It can be very difficult to get around if you don't feel strong enough or dizzy. Maybe you're worried about falling.

With strengthening and balance work we can aim to getting you back to safely moving around.

Fatigue Management
It can be frustrating when you feel too tried to manage your daily activities or even get out of bed some days.

We can work with you to come up with fatigue management strategies and daily goal setting.

Transfers
Sometimes getting out of the chair or bed can be more difficult than walking around. ​We can practice the movements & increase strength to make it much easier.

If you use a wheelchair to get around, we can also work with you to enhance your technique.
Post Relapse

Fatigue Management

We can work with you to set daily goals, focusing on what you enjoy. Helping you to make exercising fun again.

Well-Being
It can be deflating and frustrating after any flare up of your symptoms. Especially if you've been working hard to maintain your fitness. We can support you to get back on your feet, with an exercise regime. Being there every step of the way!

Getting Out & About Again
Mobilising around the house may now feel like a big task, leave alone going back out to the shops. By building up your strength and breaking the overall aim into smaller goals we can make each task much more achievable.
